Roger Federer was in devastating form as he crushed Somdev Devvarman 6-2 6-1 5-1 in the second round of the French Open at Roland Garros.
The second seed needed less than 90 minutes to dispose of the Indian, who only fleetingly found any form against a barrage of winners from the Swiss star.
Federer made a number of errors in the opening set but Devvarman could only manage four winners and never looked like having a chance of coming back from being broken in the very first game.
The pattern continued in a one-side second set as Federer's forehand proved far too much for his opponent to handle, two more breaks of serve taking him closer to victory.
Federer's dominance, if anything, increased in the finale as he stormed into a 5-0 lead before Devvarman avoided the dreaded 'bagel', but a straightforward service game saw him through to a third round clash with 30th seed Julien Benneteau.
"It's great that all the work is paying off and I hope to keep experiencing this as long as possible," said Federer.
"Next up it's Benneteau, a good friend. We have met a few times - he beat me at Rotterdam earlier this year.
"I'm happy that I was playing offensive and aggressive tennis in the first two matches. I didn't back off and start to play passive tennis and wait for mistakes. I took it to my opponent."
